  10. Tweeting thr Julie & Blu

I think many aren't here because I didn't send the email out until they had left for work. Sorry

I just had t go up to my neighbors and shot a possum that was in their chicken house. Never shot a 410 before. It has a serious kick to it!

Oh and one shot was all it took.

They gave me a dozen eggs for shooting it and saving their chickens

  15. Man Christie, I thought I was a country girl. You put me to shame.

I probably would have crawled in with some heavy leather gloves and grabbed the possum. But then I am just crazy like that sometimes :)

Tweeted all. Sorry I missed Monday, hubby is sick so been dealing with a lot of that.

Will tweet again when I get home.

  16. Hahaha . . . laughed out loud reading your comments, Jacki! Coons and possums were a fairly common occurrence in our hen house growing up - but we always used a 22. Not so much kick (: Aaahhh . . . memories! Enjoy the eggs.

All caught up. Will check back later.

  17. As I watch a muskrat lazily swim across the pond to do more damage to the shore.

They (landlord and hubby) want me to sit on the front porch like Granny Clampett and pick off muskrats. I freak out if I run over a chipmunk!

I do understand 'possums and eggs though - not totally a city girl :) Just getting squeamish in my old age and thinking about becoming a vegetarian now that I am in BEEF and BISON country.

Little baby deer graze in my little front yard and stare at me with those big eyes while my landlord target practices his bow and arrow on his fake deer.

    Argh!

  18. I am caught up here.

    OK on this possum...

He had climbed up in the tree over the hen house or coop, whatever you want to call it. The neighbor lady in her pink nighty tried to shoot it. LOL

Possums have very long teeth. I wouldn't touch one with leather gloves. I think they would go straight thru and then rabies shots... Nope, that 410 did the trick! I have not shot a gun in a long time. I picked it off crawling on a branch n the tree about the laying hens a.k.a. chickens. OK gross part... One shot clean thru the neck. It dropped and feel in the middle of the chickens. Then my neighbor climbed in with her pink nighty on and a shovel to scoop it out.

I believe this will be my blog post for tomorrow!

I normally would not kill an animal if it wasn't for food, but those eggs....

Ok Julie you get a 410 and sit in the rocker and pick those muskrats off from the porch!

I have deer int he yard all the time. There is a scarred up buck that comes in the yard. I used to sit out in the yard and they would walk up to me. I just talked to them. My neighbor (the husband) said I want you to call me when you are going out to talk with your friends so I can get some deer meat! My son gets mad at me for doing it.

One night I was out on the orch and I heard something. Walked off the porch and there he was, that buck. Big and beautiful. I said out loud "You wait right there so I can get good camera." Came in got and went out. There he stood, waiting. I took 4 pictures and then I said you better go on now before someone gets out a gun. It just stood there and watched me. When me son comes over to hunt, he will tell me how many he got and then say "No Mom, it wasn't your buck." LOL

I worked on gaining twitter followers yesterday and today. Now up to 4040 the old fashioned way. Hoorah!!!!

  19. Jacki, you go girl!! Love it...nothin wrong with protecting the eggs...pffff, they are just a little bit tastier than possum!

  20. I totally enjoyed the visual of the pink nightie clad woman trying to save her eggs and along comes Jacki shooting a 410 and taking care of business and she gets in there (still wearing a nightie) and cleans things up...made my day!

  21. Too funny!

The muskrats gotta go, but I don't have a pink nightie, so I am not your shooter. :)

  22. I know nothing about muskrats and what they do, but possums I know you don't want to mess with them up close and personal. Glad to see some of you show up.

    Tweeted everyone to here.
