Twitter Tree 9-12-2012



The Twitter Tree© will be hosted by a different shop M-W-F.

Instructions:
  •          Only 2 Items per person
  •          Each Tweet must contain the hashtag #retwt
  •          Only 1 other Hashtag may be used.
  •          Please include a brief description of your item in the tweet. 
  •    Keep your Tweet under 140 Characters (including spaces).
  •          No Mature Items
  •          Tweet Everyone’s listings. (It is not fair to others if you do not fully participate. Team Leaders do watch who is tweeting and who is not.)

Please tweet the other shops in the tree. It is not fair to be tweeted without returning the favor. The more people that are tweeting, the more exposure for all!
Speaking of exposure. Did you know that you are creating back links to your items by posting in the twitter tree. You get a link from the blog and you also get back links when someone tweet, FB, Google+, RebelMouse, and uses other social media to promote your items. The more back links you get, the more relevant  your items are to Google.   Something to keep in mind.

    On the RTs

    You can not retweet YOUR tweets. You can search the hashtag #retwt and retweet from there, or come back and retweet by copying and pasting and dropping out the retwt hastag.

    I just retweet from your tweets.

    I add extra hashtags or whatever so they will go thru again.

    Everyone's first item has been tweeted/scheduled for earlier this morning - the second item for later on. Also scheduled for this evening. Happy sales!

    I sometimes have trouble with tweets from here being too long for Hootsuite. If you use a long Etsy or ArtFire link, then I have to stop and shorten it. No biggie - just takes up time. A rule of thumb on twitter is that a tweet should have at least 20 spaces left for a RT. I don't like to use the RT button because that tweet is not valued as greatly (or so I've read) as a tweet where you do a "RT @ChristieCottage..." for example. I can't RT that way for several people here because the tweets are way too long - have to use the RT button then, which I don't really like to do.

    Thanks for all the "retwt" suggestions. The problem I have is with when I add the #retwt hashtag to items posted from various Twitter shops. I copy the link and then click on the Tweet - then add #retwt and enter - When I go to my Twitter page - that is where I cannot retwt anyone's listings - I have to go back to the shop and just retwt fron there again.
    Will keep working on it.

    Have to admit that if you are tweeting every one else's tweet request, than why would you want to also retweet?

    Tweets come across my screen constantly. Some of them I read; some I don't (or, I'm not watching my screen at that moment). By retweeting at various times during the day (some say 3pm - 11pm is the best time to retweet), our messages get out there many times so, we hope, someone will eventually read them.

    Don't know if I bookmarked the article I read about maximizing your tweets - will see if I can find it and share the link. I found it to be very interesting and the part about how to RT really stuck in my head. That's why I don't use the RT button very often. Another thing is like what GotMilkGlass said - spread out the tweets. Tweeting one right after the other doesn't get the word out, but doing a few here and a few there throughout makes your tweets more likely to be RTd. I RT the first 2-3 from the twitter tree then set up tweets for every five minutes in the morning, usually starting around 7:15, for the first items and then starting again around 9:00 for the second items. The next round of tweets go out starting at 4:00 pm every 10 minutes. Then sometimes I'll add a few around midnight to hit the Europe crowd. Not saying this is the best way, but it works for me.
