Twitter Tree Wednesday 4-20-11

This wonderful idea was started by ChristieCottage and has already brought in sales and promotional opportunities to those involved.  Remember “A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds. Francis Bacon. ”  I saw that quote posted on Twitter and it seems to fit the idea, so let us create more opportunities to be seen.
The Twitter Tree will be hosted by a different shop each business day.

Here are the 3 items that I would like tweeted today:

If you follow me on twitter - please let me know. I don't follow everyone back if I don't know who they are :)
The Twitter Tree Instructions:
You post the item(s) you tweeted for me along with your twitter account so I can follow you, and list 1-3 items (clickable links, Twitter Ready please) from any of your online shops that you would like for me to tweet for you. ( No "mature" items, please). Be sure the item is twitter ready. (Please include a description, not just the link and any #hashtags you would like to use.)
You may list from multiple stores. However please respect other twitters and post no more than a total of three items.

Some tweeters use applications like Tweetdeck. This application automatically shortens URLs, and has a difficult time distinguishing between hashtags and URLs when they are not properly spaced. Please place spaces between your URLs and hastags. Failure to do so may result in lower views as your tweets may get corrupted in the system.

Check back throughout the day to tweet the other items listed in the comments. To make life simpler for all those tweeting, please add the hashtag #bluebird to your links. This way it will be easier to re-tweet later in the day. Also if you add the #bluebird hashtag to your items, it will give you a random chance to be featured in the #bluebird daily twitter paper.

By reaching out through our blog and twitter network, we hope to increase promotion for all our stores and hope to gain a new audience and possibly some sales.

Hope you have a wonderful day and see you in tweetland.

Finding God

Several weeks ago I had a few hours to myself, so I decided to relax and watch the Julia Roberts movie "Eat, Pray, Love". This movie really spoke to me and I came away wanting to see more of God in my life.

I have been so caught up in Etsy, in selling my work, in my day job, in my personal life, and in my own melancholy; that I had literally lost sight of God in my life.  I wanted to "experience" God again.

I prayed, I sought advise, and then I promptly got caught up in the daily drama again. So why am I writing this tonight on Palm Sunday? I found God. It was not where I was expecting, but none the less I see God.

Yesterday we had a line of VERY severe storms pass through our area. The line produced multiple tornadoes, some of which stayed on the ground for 150-200 miles. That is unheard of in our area. It simply does not happen around here.

One tornado pass near our house, about 10 miles to the north west of us. That same tornado did this to a local Lowe's Home Improvement store a little south of our county.

So why then with all this destruction do I say I finally see God?

From looking at the photos, and knowing this happened around 3pm on a Saturday, you would expect the worst case scenario here. Instead no one was badly hurt when the tornado hit that warehouse.

The manager was outside glancing across the road at exactly the right time to see the storm coming.  He managed to get everyone into a tiny room in the back of the store just as the storm hit the store. There were no lallygags, no daredevils trying to see what was going on. Everyone cooperated and made it safely through the tornado in the back of that store.

In any scenario involving multiple people, I recognize that the chance of something going wrong increases dramatically. So it makes it much easier for me to see God's hand at work in this event, in the fact that everyone made it out of that store safely. This is where I found God, in the fact that everything went right so that those people were safe.

The storm system did take a total (as of the writing) of 22 lives. My heart and thoughts go out to those people suffering as a result of this system. In the next few weeks and months, the clean up process will continue around the Raleigh, NC area. I am just hoping I can continue to see the tiny miracles that God has delivered to the people of NC in this storm.

Birds and Babies! It is Spring

Several years ago I put a bluebird box up on the fence in my back yard. For the first couple of years we had bluebird tenants. Then the pine trees beside the box overgrew the area, and the bluebirds stop making nests in the box.

Over the winter, I cut down several limbs from the pine trees on either side of the box, in the hopes of opening the area back up for the bluebirds.

Last week I took my two year old outside to enjoy a warm early spring day. While we were out there, I decided to check the box. Boy was I glad I did. There was a new nest!  However it was not the pine straw and grass nest I had been looking for. Nor was it the grass and trash nest of a house finch. It was a moss and fur nest!

This is the first time I have ever seen a nest like this. So yesterday, I went back to take these pictures. While I was there I decided to use the camera to take a peek at the inside of the nest. This is what I found.

So maybe you are wondering which bird is in my blue bird box... Well here she is (sorry mommy bird would not let me get her picture, she was to busy fussing me out for disturbing her nest, so I am showing you a picture from earlier this year.)

That is right. A Chickadee!!! I am so excited.
