Birds 1-20-15

This week I wanted to show off some photos of my Tufted Titmouse (Mice?)

These cute little gray and white birds come to my feeders everyday in search of black oil sunflowers, sunflower hearts and peanuts. But their favorite treat is a home made peanut butter suet. The literally will drop everything when I put it out.

These little birds spend seconds at my feeder each trip. They gather the seed/nut they want and fly back to the trees to eat it. Here are some more photos of this sweet little bird.

Who the Hello Am I???? 1-15-15

Hello!

This is the first post in who I am. So let me start out by introducing myself. I am April. I am the owner, designer, and artist of Eluna Jewelry Designs.

Today I want to introduce you to my past. I think that is always a good place to start, don't you?

I was born in North Carolina and grew up as the youngest of two girls. As a child, I spent many youthful hours exploring and hiking in the woods and fields that surrounded my childhood home. I was a bit of a tomboy. I think to a point I am still a bit of a tomboy. :)

In my youth I realized that I had a passion for nature. I loved watching the animals that lived in the area.I remember one year that Mom and I spent an entire season putting jars of peanut butter out into a tree in our backyard and the hours we spent watching the squirrels scamper in and out of that jar scooping up the peanut butter. It was very entertaining and endearing to watch those little squirrels.

During my time exploring, I often came across interesting stones that I found myself drawn too. I remember the first time I saw something gold in the stream flickering in the sunlight. I got so excited, grabbed it up, and ran all the way home. You can imagine my disappointment to leave that I grabbed a small piece of pyrite, fools gold.  But that experience did not stop my love of stones from growing, in fact I suspect that the experience actually began to fuel that passion.

Next week I will tell you about my first gemstone experience. :)

Item of the Week 1-12-15

The item of the week for this week is this beautiful Labradorite Beach Pebble Necklace.

I have only created one of these beauties and it can be yours today.

This wonderful necklace is created using two hand cut labradorite stones. Each stone is placed in a sterling silver setting which has been texture to resemble a pebbled beach.

As the item of the week, this necklace will have free shipping on it all week long. Hurry before it disappears!

Jewelry Spotlight!

For this week's spotlight post, I want to highlight this beautiful necklace!

This wonderful necklace features two hand cut free-form labradorite cabochons. I cut both of these stones in my studio. One has a wonderful golden green color and the other has a flash of teal.

I shot this picture with the necklace sitting up, as if it were being worn. I did this to show off the flash of the labradorite. In fact when I designed this necklace, I placed each labradorite stone in such a way that the flash would be visible when it was being worn!

This photo was taken with the necklace laying flat, you can see how the flash disappears. This is common with labradorite, as the flash only appears when the light hits the stone from a certain direction. And that direction may be different for each and every labradorite stone.

These stones are set in sterling silver and on a sterling silver pendant. The pendant was hand formed and textured. I also added a few small granulation beads to this wonderful necklace to accent the hammered textures.

The final effect of the labradorite stones and the added texture on the necklace is a wonderful pebbled beach feel! I just love this piece and I hope you do too!

Who the Hell Am I?????

In almost every blogging article, marketing advice, sales course I read/take I have been told the same thing, tell your story.....

I know that everything and everyone has a story, but not every story is evident at first glance. And this includes mine.

I think this quote is a good place to start. For this year, I hope to use my blog to explore who I am and what my personal story is. And I would like you all to be a part of it. If there is something about me, that you would like to know, or something that you think is important, please leave a comment and let me know.


Next week, I will begin this journey. I wanted to let you all know what was coming before I jumped head first into this process. :)
